Gel ball pen free hand, edited in photoshop with mouse...


Multibeam frigate… Although had very limited appearance in the game, it was a very unique weapon that stands out and memorized by anyone who touched the original howeworld. This is my design variation upon the official concept.

Did not expect to see much homeworld art. Pleasant surprise, especially from these fan favorites.

Helps that I had more salvage corvettes than I knew what to do with because I failed at thinking ahead.

I was lucky to get through my first time through, especially considering how many salvage corvettes I had.

You know, I forgot where I saw a quick modding guide for homeworld, but I think it mentioned how to remove RUS cost and change ship stats. Sorry I don't remember more, though.


And yes, I do like your gallery as a whole-especially the Siter Skain ships as well as homeworld.

Its rather uncommon for a firsttimer to make much use of salvage corvettes. HW1 also had some strict population limitation because computer problem back then. I do not remember can you break the population limit by salvaging or not. I consider salvage corvettes the most outstanding unit in the HW, no other RTS had that. HW was an post "craft" RTS that did not do the "APM" and "balance" stuff, there was a sense of indigenous fun from the pre"craft" era.

You played Siterskain too. If you are not told from beginning you would think their game are from the 80's arcade. They were one of the most professional indies I have seen. Those game can make a face on consoles like dreamcast or PS1.

Well, I made special use of the corvettes because I heard of Homeworld thanks to salvage corvettes-you see, I like RTS games. I ESPECIALLY like RTS games where you can capture or control enemy units. During a discussion about such units, people started talking about things like the devastator (dune 2) and the salvage corvette.

From there, I eventually got my hands on a physical copy of homeworld and cataclysm. . . and lost the handbook right off the bat, so all I had was the tutorial and that was all. Naturally, having come for the corvettes (and staying for the awesome,) I overbuilt my corvette force and underbuilt my actual combat force.

Yes, there are two population limits. First, there is the player's build limit, which will stop you from building more units. Salvaged units, however, avoid this limit entirely - but are still subject to an overhead maximum limit. You can tell you've hit this second limit if salvage corvettes have captured ships but are stopping outside the hangar even when you've finished capturing the ship.

I'm still trying to find that editing guide-it included a way to set whether or not different enemy ships were salvageable, and I never got around to testing if making a mothership salvageable gave the game a heart attack or not. =P Would be ridiculous, seeing something like a bentusi ship going inside the player's mothership.

Talk about controlling enemy unit, the engineer from CnC was the most epic noncombat unit, and the only thing ravals it was the salvage corvette. SC had mind control and infestor etc but they all feels like gimmik

Indeed!

These things were nasty, brutish and short. Much like their appearance and relative life spans. :P

Though, when one makes it a goal to capture as many of them as possible to use in the End game fight, they make amazing 'Mother ship point defense' batteries! :D
